Step 1: Access Mohgwyn Palace

Mohgwyn Palace is a late-game blood swamp beneath the Lands Between, home to Mohg, Lord of Blood and some of the game’s most challenging enemies. You can reach this area in two main ways:

Path A (Quest Route) – Varré’s Questline

This is the intended route and the one most players use.

Meet White Mask Varré at the First Step Site of Grace after leaving the tutorial area.

Progress normally through the early game until you can reach the Rose Church in Liurnia (west of Raya Lucaria).

Speak with Varré and choose that the Two Fingers are not trustworthy.

Receive Festering Bloody Fingers and use them three times (win or lose PvP invasions—any outcome counts).

Return to Varré, receive Lord of Blood’s Favor.

Soak the cloth in Maiden’s blood (either at the Church of Inhibition or via a special interaction with Hyetta's corpse if eligible).

Return to Varré and receive the Pureblood Knight's Medal.

Use the medal to teleport to Mohgwyn Palace.

Path B – Waygate (Alternative, Co-op Friendly)

There’s a portal in the Consecrated Snowfield (late-game secret zone) that leads to the same region. If you want the mask early, the Varré route is much faster.

Step 2: Reach the Blood Swamp

Once in Mohgwyn Palace, activate the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace. From there:

Head into the blood-red swamp.

Stick to the right-hand side wall as you move down into the lower basin.

This swamp is dangerous—expect blood-infused birds, giant skeleton ghosts, and blood slimes. Stay mounted on Torrent when possible, as the swamp inflicts hemorrhage buildup.

Step 3: Trigger the White Mask Invader

Three invader NPCs named Nameless White Mask will spawn in this swamp area. You only need to defeat the first one that appears near the cliffside ledge on the right.

Important Warning:

If you kill Mohg, Lord of Blood before fighting these invaders, they will no longer spawn, and the White Mask becomes missable on that character.

So get the mask before slaying Mohg.

Step 4: Strategy to Defeat the Invader

The Nameless White Mask invader fights with a Blood-infused polearm, dodging often and trying to pressure roll timing.

Tips for Winning

Use jump attacks or halberds to break poise.

Bleed works against them—ironically, they bleed quickly.

Spirit Ashes cannot help, but consumables like Stanching Boluses help if YOU get bled.

Stay aggressive—don’t let them dance around and poke.

Rune reward

If the first invader doesn’t drop it, defeat the next two—one of them always will.

Do not kill Mohg before doing this.

Do Varré's quest early so you can get the mask and then farm Mohgwyn Palace rune spots.
